In the large family of 11 that I grew up in, there were many of us involved in architecture in some way. I love many styles of architecture but my favorite is Cape Cod.

In my view there is nothing more perfect than a rambling Cape Cod styled house that backs onto or overlooks the ocean. The stage is always set for power...whether it is a sunny, foggy, overcast or even wintry day. There is so much grandeur, even majesty that demands to be painted. Was it my childhood backyard of Lake Superior that keeps calling or is it the mystery and dangers of the Atlantic that keeps me answering? I don't know but one thing is for sure, I travel often to the "Big Pond" and I'm reminded of the solace and retreat I find there, along with the possibilities of paintings around every corner.
